The EAC RCE proudly sponsored 12 scholars from EAC Partner States to attend a training on Good Manufacturing Practice (GxP) at Seoul National University’s Siheung Campus, South Korea, from October 29 to November 14, 2024. The training which was organized by the International Vaccine Institute (IVI), equipped participants with the much-needed skills to strengthen vaccine & biologic manufacturing standard practice for improved public health.
EAC RCE’s partnership with IVI aims to strengthen vaccine manufacturing talent in the region and beyond. From this training, we are certain that the scholars will support in the delivery of vaccine manufacturing courses at the University of Rwanda, cited Dr Jean Baptiste Nyandwi from the UR/EAC RCE-VIHSCM.
During this course, Dr Jean Baptiste Nyandwi gave a special lecture on Vaccine Manufacturing Capacity Development in the East African Community on 4th November. He also actively participated in the World Bio Summit 2024 as a panelist contributing to the session on Human Resource Development in Biomanufacturing. During this period, the EAC RCE-VIHSCM participated in the official launch/Tape-Cutting Ceremony of the Global Bio Campus, a training facility designed to provide training and education to the biomanufacturing workforce in low- and middle-income countries. The project was launched after Korea was designated as the “Global Training Hub for Biomanufacturing” (hereinafter “GTH-B”) by the WHO in 2022.
