The (EAC) Regional Centre of Excellence for Vaccines, Immunisation and Health Supply Chain Management

The RCE overall objective is enhance capacity and strengthen systems along the supply chain to deliver quality vaccines, pharmaceuticals and health commodities at affordable cost and at the right time.

Vision:
To become an autonomous, well-recognized, top-class, regional knowledge hub, providing high-quality pre- and in-service training and disseminating best practices in vaccines, immunization and health supply chain management.

Mission:                                       
Contribute to solving existing performance challenges of the health supply chain management (HSCM) system in the EAC region through the generation of knowledge and its translation into research, policy and practice.

RCE Core Functions:

  • Training Excellence: Providing high-quality pre- and in-service training and disseminating best practices in vaccines, immunization and health supply chain management.
  • Research, Innovation and Technical Assistance (RITAC): We strive to achieve excellence in evidence-based research and dissemination of knowledge that informs best practices for HSCM and provides technical assistance.
  • Resource Centre: Serving as a source of HSCM knowledge and expertise for the EAC Region and manage a Resource Center through our website.
  • Professionalization of SCM Cadres: Support the EAC Region to put in place an HSCM professionalization framework with support from partners.
  • Access to Medicines (ATM): Support the EAC region in improvement of Access to Medicines (ATM) against substandard and falsified medicines (SSF) and institutionalization of Pooled Procurement mechanisms.
