The EAC RCE-VIHSCM had a signifiant presence at the 2nd East Africa Pharma and Biotech Conference, held from 17th to 18th September 2024 in Kigali under the theme, “Advancing Vaccine and Pharmaceutical Production in Africa”. The event aligned perfectly with the Centre’s mandate to support talent development and research within the EAC, particularly in vaccine and pharmaceutical production.

The conference was convened by the Government of Rwanda through the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) and Africa CDC, with support from the German Development Cooperation, and brought together leading experts from the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors across East Africa.

Targeted discussions and networking sessions during this conference explored key topics such as local drug production, biotech innovations, and regulatory reforms, providing good insights into the evolving pharmaceutical landscape of the region.

In addition to engaging in these discussions, the EAC RCE-VIHSCM was thrilled to showcase its contributions to healthcare innovation and capacity building at a dedicated exhibition booth. This provided an opportunity to highlight the Centre’s role in vaccine and pharmaceutical production in the region.
