In a recent development, the EAC RCE-VIHSCM achieved accreditation as an Implementing Partner for PtD’s renown Strategic Training Executive Programme, known as STEP 2.0. This accreditation grants the Centre the opportunity to integrate the STEP 2.0 program into its training menu, catering specifically to the professional development needs of health supply chain leaders and managers. The Centre also actively participated in the PtD Global Indaba Conference 2024 held in Bangkok Thailand from 4-8 March, 2024, themed “Supply chain workforce: Solutions to transform health supply chains. This conference provided a global platform for the EAC RCE_VIHSCM to gain insights and best practices pertaining to aspects of human resources in the sector. The EAC RCE-VIHSCM also actively engaged in the PtD STEP 2.0 Implementing Partners’ workshop, leveraging the opportunity to learn from experiences of fellow implementers.
Underscoring the importance of education and capacity-building initiatives, Dr. Domina Asingizwe, the Centre’s Research Coordinator, shared insights into the professionalization journey undertaken by the RCE, at the panel titled; Professionalisation through education pathways. Through its core areas of operation including postgraduate, pre- and in-service short-term professional training, the EAC RCE-VIHSCM is determined to elevate professionalization of Health Supply Chain Management cadres in the East African Community region.
