The EAC RCE embarked on a series of visits to key institutions in Uganda in August 2024, to advance collaboration. Beginning with Revive Pharma Ltd on August 5, 2024, the RCE team led by Dr. Edward Sebina, Deputy Commissioner for EAC Affairs at MEACA Uganda, held discussions with the company’s CEO Mr. Ravi Reddy together with other company’s officials.
The team continued its engagements with Uganda National Medical Stores (NMS) on August 6, and held talks with Chief Store and Operations Officer Mr. Paul Okware centered on advancing joint initiatives. This was followed by a visit to the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) on August 7 featuring discussions with Director Prof. Pontiano Kaleebu.
On August 8, RCE representatives visited the Makerere University’s School of Public Health where they met with Prof. Elizeus Rutebemberwa, Deputy Dean of School, Dr. Chrispus Mayora and Mr Ochanda Perez. This was followed by a visit and a meeting to Quality Chemical Industries Ltd (QCIL) on August 9 where the team held discussions with the CEO, Mr. Kumal Ajay Pal. The team also toured Piston Medical Laboratory Manufacturing Plant on August 13, engaging in productive dialogues with General Manager, Dr. John Kamili.
Finally, a visit to the Uganda National Drug Authority (NDA) on August 14 allowed the RCE Team to meet with Hon. Dr. Medard Bitekyerezo Chairman of the NDA, as well as senior NDA leadership headlined by NDA ED, Dr. David Nahamya.
Through these visits, RCE is working to establish partnerships with these institutions through MoUs aimed at mutually enhancing teaching and research activities.
