Where: Nairobi, Kenya
In February 2018, the Joint EAC Heads of State Retreat on Health and Infrastructure Financing and Development and the 19th Ordinary Summit of the EAC Heads of State approved nine (9) EAC regional health sector investment priorities as the region’s health sector development blueprint for the period 2018 – 2028. The Heads of State directed the EAC Council of Ministers to mobilize financial and technical resources to facilitate implementation of the health sector investment priority projects; strengthen the region’s capacity to prepare and implement the projects; develop comprehensive strategies to combat cross-border health challenges; and convene the Heads of State retreats on health every 2 years.
In this regard, the EAC Secretariat is convening the 2nd Ministerial, Development Partners and Investors’ Roundtable from 31st October to 1st November 2019 in, Nairobi, Kenya, in collaboration with the East African Health Research Commission, Partner States and Development Partners. The aim of the roundtable is to mobilize financial and technical resources to support implementation of the approved regional health sector investment priorities.

This meeting will build on previous discussions held under the 1st EAC Partners States investors and partners roundtable on investing in health infrastructure, systems and research for the accelerated attainment of Universal Health Coverage and The Sustainable Development Goals.
