Stakeholders Validate Revised EAC RCE-VIHSCM Strategic Plan

The Centre has entered a renewed phase of strategic direction following the review and validation of its revised Strategic Plan (2020–2029), reaffirming its commitment to strengthening healthcare in the East African region and beyond.

From 27th to 29th April 2026, stakeholders converged in Dar es Salaam, United Republic of Tanzania for a high-level stakeholders’ meeting to validate the revised Strategic Plan and consolidate regional priorities.

Building on months of reflection, including a mid-term review and regional consultations held earlier in the year, the discussions provided space to reassess assumptions, align strategic priorities, and further refine the Centre’s role in strengthening vaccine delivery, immunisation systems, and health supply chain management within the EAC region and beyond.

In her remarks, the University of Rwanda Deputy Vice Chancellor for Finance, Mrs. Françoise Kayitare Tengera, commended participants for their continued engagement and guidance in shaping the Centre’s work. “The mid-term review provides a timely opportunity to assess progress, identify gaps, and recalibrate priorities in response to the rapidly evolving global health landscape,” she emphasized.

The refined strategy provides a focused roadmap for the years ahead, building on existing achievements, addressing persistent gaps and positioning the Centre to respond more effectively to future public health challenges through capacity building, research and innovation.
