On 21st August, the Centre hosted a delegation from the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) as part of their five-day benchmarking tour of the University of Rwanda Centres of Excellence. The delegation which included members of KMTC’s Board of Directors, was received by the Centre’s Director, Mr. John Patrick Mwesigye and his Team. Both teams held discussions focused on identifying synergies in health training, academic exchanges, and capacity-building initiatives.

“KMTC is one of the leading institutions in training healthcare professionals. By working together, we can ensure that the future health workforce is exceptionally well-prepared to address the challenges of modern medical product supply and distribution, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs,” noted Mr. Mwesigye.

Earlier in the month, on 6th August, the University of Rwanda signed a formal MoU with Kairuki Pharmaceuticals Industry Limited (KPIL), a Tanzanian-based pharmaceutical manufacturer committed to improving healthcare outcomes across Sub-Saharan Africa. This partnership focusses on key areas such as joint training programs, exchange of faculty and researchers, collaborative research, student internships, and the development of study programs. This will be implemented by the EAC RCE-VIHSCM.
