Regional health leaders, researchers, policymakers, and industry stakeholders convened in Kigali on February 26, 2026, for the launch of the Eastern Africa Regional Capability and Capacity Network (RCCN) Conference of Partners Workshop, aimed at operationalizing the Africa CDC RCCN initiative to develop biomanufacturing talent in the region.
Hosted through Syllabi – Africa Biomanufacturing Institute under the Rwanda Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the EAC Regional Centre of Excellence for Vaccines, Immunisation and Health Supply Chain Management (EAC RCE-VIHSCM), the workshop set priority actions to strengthen regional biomanufacturing, develop a skilled workforce, harmonise training standards, and boost local production of vaccines and essential health products, marking a key milestone in translating strategy into coordinated regional action.
The EAC RCE-VIHSCM will serve as a regional knowledge hub, co-leading research, training, and technical expertise in vaccine science, immunisation, and health supply chains to support sustainable growth and health security in Eastern Africa.
