Dr. Jean Baptiste NYANDWI

Training Coordinator, RCE VIHSCM

Dr. Jean Baptiste Nyandwi holds a PhD in Convergence Medical Science. With over a decade of experience, Dr. Nyandwi is a dedicated Lecturer and Researcher in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Department and is the former Head of the Pharmacy Department at the University of Rwanda. Currently, he serves as the Training Coordinator at the EAC Regional Centre of Excellence for Vaccines, Immunization, and Health Supply Chain Management (RCE-VIHSCM). In this role, he oversees and coordinates capacity building and talent development in critical areas such as vaccine manufacturing, vaccinology, regulatory affairs, and supply chain management. Dr. Nyandwi is a respected member of the National Pharmacovigilance Advisory Committee of the Rwanda Food and Drugs Authority since 2021 and has been a member of the Technical Committee on Pharmaceutical Products (RSB/TC 015) of the Rwanda Standards Board since 2018. He also serves as a member of Country Coordination Committee (CCC) of the Trial Regulation and Clinical Ethics Optimization (TRACE) initiative in Rwanda. Additionally, he contributes his expertise to the Regulatory Capacity Development Sub Technical Committee on Vaccines Regulatory Oversight of AUDA-NEPAD and Vaccine Manufacturing Talent Development Work stream of the Africa CDC-PHAHM. Throughout his career, Dr. Nyandwi has been instrumental in developing and implementing academic programs. He has also spearheaded the organization of numerous scientific conferences and workshops, including the International Vaccinology Course, Vaccine Development and Medicine Financing, among others. A pharmacist by profession, Dr. Nyandwi is registered as a Senior Consultant Pharmacist in Rwanda. His scholarly contributions include authoring numerous peer-reviewed papers in international journals within the fields of medical sciences. He also serves as a reviewer for various esteemed peer-reviewed journals.
